Increase Steam Download Speed drastically (India)

Tired of annoyingly slow download speeds in Steam despite having a good internet connection? We've got you covered. This is a really simple process that lets you increase your download speed drastically. You will instantly see a huge difference in your download speed after following the process below:

Note: This method only works with connections that have direct peering enabled.

Step 1: 

Start Steam and start downloading whatever game you like. As you can see, I'm downloading CS:GO below with a speed of around 250KB/s which is really slow. Now pause the download.

Step 2:

Go to View on the top menu and select Settings from the drop-down list like shown in the picture below.

Step 3:

Click on the Downloads tab and then click on the Download Region drop-down menu. 

Step 4:

Now select one of the three out of LAN Event (USA), LAN Event (Europe) or LAN Event (Asia) to see which one gives you the maximum speed. In my case, LAN Event (USA) works the best for me. Select it, press Ok and the Steam Client will restart. Now try downloading again. 

Step 5:

Be amazed! You will now see a drastic increase in your download speed. In my case, my download speed increased from 250KB/s to about 2MB/s.
